Birgitta Lund | works

After living and working for 18 years in New York Birgitta Lund returned to Denmark in 2003. The move quickly manifested itself in her work and the photographic project In Transit took form as a personal and geopolitical reflection on the time she left the United States for Europe. The core of the story is her move back to Copenhagen after having spend half her life in the U.S., but the photographs spread like rings in water, drawing a larger picture of the timeframe in which the move occurred: 9/11, the war in Iraq and the bombings in Madrid and London all echoes in a subtle manner throughout the work. The photographs are best described as a collection of visual poems.
